⚠️ Important tip: Don't get caught out. When your credit drops below $10, your meter will sound an alarm. Press the blue B button to silence it for 12 hours, then top up your power card at a retailer and transfer the credit to your meter to stay powered up.

Your power prices (tariffs)

Good news!  If you have a card-operated meter in a remote community, you'll pay the same electricity prices as other customers across regional Queensland.

Your tariff determines how your electricity is charged. Common tariffs for card-operated meters include:

  • Tariff 11 - The standard tariff used by most households
  • Tariff 31 and Tariff 33 - Often used for hot water systems that don't need electricity all day
  • Tariff 20 - For eligible small businesses that use less than 100 megawatt hours (MWh) of electricity each year.

See a breakdown of the prices below.

Power credits (rebate)

The Queensland Government Electricity Rebate helps eligible households reduce the cost of electricity. If you have a card-operated meter, your rebate is added straight to your orange linked power card.

Our agreement with you

When you use a card-operated meter, there's a standard agreement that outlines:

  • What you can expect from us
  • Your rights and responsibilities as a customer.

This agreement is called the Standard Retail Contract for Card-Operated Meter Customers. (PDF 108.7 kb).

✅ There's nothing you need to sign.

The agreement automatically applies when you become a customer and use a card-operated meter.

Our power cards also have terms and conditions that apply to their use.
