Important Notice: Letters for Essential Services Hardship Assistance (ESHA) Grants for Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred

What is an ESHA grant?

The ESHA grant helps people who have lost one or more essential services (i.e. electricity, gas, water, or sewerage) at their home for more than 5 consecutive days due to a disaster.

Do I need to make a request for outage information from Energex or Ergon Energy if I have experienced a loss of supply for more than 5 consecutive days at my place of residence (main home, located within an eligible disaster area)?

No, you do not need to complete an Insurance Letter Request for outage data in support of your application for an ESHA grant. We have already provided and will continue to provide relevant customer outage data to the Department of Communities to assist with their administration of ESHA relief payments.

How do I apply for an ESHA grant?

Please apply directly with the Department of Communities, see https://www.qld.gov.au/community/disasters-emergencies/disasters/money-finance/types-grants/essential-serv-hardship-assist for eligibility criteria.
