Thank you for supporting Queensland community projects and initiatives.
The Arcadia Valley Recreation Association is a passionate, community-run group bringing locals together through social events, lessening the impacts of isolation in our rural region. $5,000 would enable us to improve community facilities, diversify activities and create more meaningful moments for the people (i.e. the heart) of Arcadia Valley!
Bayside BMX Club would love to be People’s Choice and access the $5,000 to further enhance the track for riders. If successful, the $5,000 would assist with the purchase of a MYLAPS timing system. The system ensures accurate timing on race days and open days which is vital.
BMCAI fosters connection and support, through social gatherings, open events and volunteer services. Bunya Mountains is a sacred place for everyone. The Community does not have a place to meet. $5,000 will greatly assist to develop our planned community meeting place to provide a welcoming hub for locals and visitors
FNQ Wildlife Rescue rescued 2,320 animals in 2024, including 1,723 birds like frogmouths that can eat around six mice daily. With $5,000, we can assist with food costs for carers, who would otherwise have to pay themselves. This funding would ensure proper care and allow resources for crucial rescue efforts.
We would use the People’s Choice Bonus to commission an Indigenous artist to create a vibrant mural for our Kindergarten’s bush tucker garden. This artwork would enhance our nature play space, celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, and foster learning and connection to land, plants and traditional knowledge.
Our Drumming, Music Choir were thrilled to 'wrap themselves in Ergon bunting', when it arrived in the mail. Our two community gardens, Youth Certificate 1 in Construction, Cooking Class for under-privileged parents, and seven other programs will benefit greatly from an injection of $5000. Many more people in the community will have access to what the club has to offer.
As a volunteer-run community arts centre, which receives no regular funding from any level of government, delivering artistic programmes at lowest possible cost is vital. Bonus funds will accelerate expansion of our solar system to deliver greater electricity savings sooner, ensuring our region’s vibrant creative community continues to thrive.
If the club could win this award the money would assist with replacing the existing double entrance doors at the top of the stairs with an electric push button sliding door!! This door would allow for safer and easier entry to the club house and would facilitate wheelchair access directly between the Function room and the bar.
Winning an extra $5,000 would help us cover an additional 2.5 months of transportation for our players, enabling consistent access to sports opportunities. This vital support ensures that youth of refugee backgrounds can continue building confidence, friendships, and a sense of belonging, furthering our mission of empowering lives through sports.
Wongai Basketball Association has been operating for more than 30 years, putting on competition/season games or organising carnivals in the Torres Strait. We also take teams away south for competitions, support teams from schools here on Thursday Island and takie teams away as Wongai Basketball to represent at all levels - even the elite level of basketball.
