Using the Home Energy Health Check form below, make your way, room to room listing all appliances that use electricity.

  • Remember to look for the size/wattage/kW for each appliance.
  • List the number of hours per day each appliance is used.
  • Take note of anything that if replaced or used differently, could be more energy efficient.

REMINDER: Calculating the cost of the appliances can be done with the customer after your walk through.

Take the time to talk through anything you identified that could help the customer reduce their energy usage.

Remember to use the PowerSavvy booklet.

Walkthrough how energy use can be impacted by times where there may be more people in the house.

If the customer is already energy efficient, congratulations is in order, and keep it up.

Ask the customer if they need any help in understanding Ergon Retail’s electricity bill?
Is the customer registered for Ergon Retail’s My Account online portal and do they need help?
If the customer’s digital meter has been installed, show them how to access and use Energy analysis.
Is the customer eligible for an Electricity rebate
Does the customer have an eligible card and if so, are they receiving the electricity rebate on their Ergon Retail bill?Select which eligible card the customer is claiming a rebate for

Asylum seeker status - residents will need to provide their ImmiCard details.

NOTE: Holders of a Foster Child Health Care Card and Commonwealth Seniors Health Card are not eligible for the electricity rebate.

Is the customer aware of the Home Energy Emergency Assistance Scheme

Provide information on the scheme to the customer. HEEAS is a one-off payment of up to $720 to assist with a debt on a residential electricity account. Households can only receive HEEAS once every two years and the unexpected short-term financial crisis must have occurred within the past 12 months.

Does someone at the property require the use of life support equipment

If someone at the property requires the use of life support equipment, they could be eligible for our Life Support program where you can receive notification of any planned interruptions to the electricity supply as appropriate. Customer may still experience unplanned supply interruptions, and we recommend having a plan of action for when they’re without power.

Remind the customer about Ergon Energy’s outage notifications.

You can register for planned power outage notifications for free via SMS or email at https://www.ergon.com.au/network/outages.
